The Transmaster™ electric furnace switch can be provided with independent pole, point on wave, synchronous closing control. Point on wave closing control substantially reduces the inrush current magnitude and transients associated with transformer switching by energizing the furnace transformer at the optimal point on the voltage waveform. Each phase of the transformer is closed independently, synchronized with the occurrence of peak voltage. This eliminates problems such as overvoltages and significant electromechanical forces on the transformer bushings, windings, and insulation which reduces equipment life and increases maintenance costs. |
| Longer Equipment Life | |
| Reduced forces on bushings, windings, and insulation which results in lower total ownership cost | |
| Increased Safety | |
| Less electrical stress on transformer interwinding insulation | |
| Reduced Maintenance Costs | |
| Reduced wear on components decreases maintenance requirements | |
| Increased Reliability | |
| Less down time results in increased productivity | |
| For use with Joslyn Electric Furnace Switches |
| VBT Transmaster Switches (up to 69 kV) |
| VBU-T Transmaster Switches (up 69 kV to 230 kV) |
