The Fisher
Pierce Series 1580 Neutral Current Indicator continuously monitors the
neutral current of a fixed distribution capacitor bank. When a capacitor
fails, the fuse opens in one of the three phases, and the capacitor neutral
current becomes unbalanced. The indicator uses a current sensor to detect
neutral current unbalance and the sensor also provides power for the indicator
circuitry (no battery is required to operate the neutral current indicator).
The indicator
is attached to a neutral conductor and provides a continuous check on
the capacitor bank. When it senses a high neutral current (typically 15
amps), it will flash a high intensity LED. The flashing rate indicates
the magnitude. |
