Vertical break air disconnected switches for sectionalizing or isolation

RF-2 disconnect switches provide highly dependable operation for sectionalizing or isolating service. The RF-2 is a rotating-insulator, vertical-break air switch. During opening and closing, the switch blade rotates in or out of the contacts, which provides a highly efficient ice-breaking action. The silver surfaced stationary contacts actually lock the blade in place by increasing pressure on the switch blade during momentary current flow. Constant pressure is maintained by insulated stainless steel back-up springs. Current is diverted away from primary contacts by an arcing horn which eliminates contact pitting and erosion.

The RF-2 disconnect switch is available in voltage ratings from 15kV through 230kV for currents from 600 through 3000 amperes. The horn-gap-type is capable of interrupting magnetizing currents and relatively low charging current.
