Zero Voltage Closing Control

Zero Voltage Closing Control- improves power quality by virtually eliminating transients normally associated with capacitor energization.
Zero voltage closing improves power quality by virtually eliminating transients normally associated with capacitor energization. The result is elimination of overvoltage duty on the capacitors and system overvoltage disturbances and significant reduction of inrush current duty on the capacitors.

Zero voltage closing has been applied in conjunction with Joslyn switches since 1985. Recent developments of a microprocessor version have increased performance and reliability, as well as reducing installation time.

For Substation use, the Zero Voltage Closing Control is an optional control package supplied in place of the vacuum switch control. For distribution capacitor banks, the control can be provided in a separate enclosure or in place of the rack mounted junction box. The control can be interfaced with any manufacturers capacitor controller.
