| TriMod 600R Three Phase Vacuum Recloser | |
| Scope: |
This Specification contains the requirements for the design and manufacture of three-phase vacuum interrupting circuit reclosers capable of single phase operation. |
| Reference Standards: | The recloser shall be designed, tested and manufactured in accordance with ANSI C37.60 for automatic circuit reclosers, including other applicable ANSI, NEMA, IEEE standards as defined in the reference section of the standard. |
| Service Conditions: | Service conditions for the recloser shall be usual standards for installation; ambient temperatures from -30oC to +40oC at altitudes below 1000M. For altitudes above 1000M, Table 1 of ANSI C37.60 shall define the altitude correction factor to be used. Unusual service conditions, such as temperature extremes, will be specified. |
|
Switch Construction: |
The recloser shall be suitable for outdoor applications. The recloser tank shall be totally enclosed with corrosion resistant cast aluminum. A pressure equalizing system to prohibit ingress of moisture into the switch shall be used. No heaters shall be used within the recloser. A pressure relief system shall be provided to reduce pressure build up in the switch in the event of an internal fault. Air bushings shall be porcelain or EPR polymer with standard NEMA two hole terminal pads. Current interruption shall be by vacuum interrupters manufactured in a highly controlled process using vacuum furnaces. Solid non-hydroscopic, high dielectric material shall be used to insulate around the vacuum interrupter. No oil or SF-6 gas shall be used for interruption or insulation. The operating mechanism shall utilize solenoids for opening and closing functions. No electronics shall be used in the recloser mechansism. The recloser shall contain no high voltage closing coils. The current transformer shall be mounted externally on the recloser tank and be easily removable. The current transformer shall be externally surrounded by a grounded metal surface to limit the possibility of hazardous voltage entering the control compartment, via the current transformer circuits, in the event of an external high voltage flashover. The current transformer shall have an internal voltage clamp to prevent the possibility of hazardous voltages developing across the CT when open circuited. Switch position indication for each phase shall be located on the bottom of the recloser to permit viewing from the ground. The Recloser shall have provisions for surge arrester mounting to allow for easy connection. The recloser weight shall not exceed 300 lbs. in order to reduce the total installation time and cost. |
| Recloser Performance Requirements: | The recloser shall be rated for a minimum mechanical life of 10,000 open and close operations without any maintenance. The vacuum interrupter contacts shall be rated for a minimum of 2 duty cycles as defined by ANSI C37.60. The recloser shall be provided with a hot-stick operable manual tripping lever that requires no external power for operation. |
